Event Support: Victorian Enduro Tour 2015, Round 3 at Mt Baw Baw

Over the weekend of 12-13 December we again supported the Victorian Enduro Tour run by Alpine Gravity. It was a busy weekend having to cater to over 200 riders. Saturday was ridiculously cold, any I quite simply couldn't get warm until the end of the day. Reaching minus 2 degrees and snowing at the top, it hurt. However Sunday was amazing mid 20's weather! The riders raced through 5 decsending timed trail races to compete within their class. The times from the 5 stages are combined to give the final time result. This Round featured much more aggressive terrain, and much shorter trails with not too much climbing. The real kicker of the event was the final stage being run on DH1, the Mt Baw Ba

Free Tune-Ups: VicRoads Travel Happy Safety Campaign

In April 2015, The Rapid Wrench's services were employed by VicRoads as part of the "Travel Happy" safety campaign. We set up shop on Melbournes busiest trails through Docklands and Northcote, offering free tune-ups to commuters. All they had to do was voice a pledge to do their bit to ride safer, which was eventually aired on TV and online to the masses. Matt Keenan, a cycling commentator who regularly forms part of the international commentary team at the Tour de France, is one of the voices of the campaign and he was also present. The campaign has seperate days and placements to target specific road user groups such as motorcycles, pedestrians, cars, trucks, and cyclists. We were glad to

Partnership: Atma Cycles: Charitable Bikes!

We have partnered with Atma Cycles, a not-for-profit bicycle company that sells bikes in Australia, and all revenue goes to disadvantaged children in India to allow them to get to school and complete their education. When you buy an Atma Bike, WE come to you within Melbourne to build it professionally, free of charge. Atma Cycles works with an Indian non-profit, Mann Deshi Foundation3 to ensure that the bicycles reach the girls who are most in need. This program has been running since 2009 in the Satara District of Maharashtra, India and has given over 7,400 bicycles to schoolgirls so far. Atma Cycles role is to boost this program and give it the resources it needs to spread to other areas.

The Ride 2 Conquer Cancer

On the weekend of the 24-25th October in 2015, The 2015 Ride 2 Conquer Cancer was held. The Rapid Wrench Melbourne set up a base at both Tyab and Sandringham beach to give mechanical support to the 850 riders that came through. The event continues to raise millions of dollars each year for this charity work. Mike from The Rapid Wrench is a Cancer survivor himself, and so he knows first hand what its like to go through this disease, and is glad to lend the support to these riders. It was a busy couple of days, fixing gears, spokes, and lots of flat tires. More info: http://www.conquercancer.org.au

Fridge-Bike Servicing at Melbourne Night Noodle Markets, Birrarung Marr

"The Night Noodle Markets are back for 18 nights this November, once again lighting up the banks of the Yarra at Birrarung Marr with a record 57 stalls, three bars and the luxurious Citi Concierge is back in the Citi VIP dining area." The Rapid Wrench was called to Birrarung Marr just a day before the festival, to urgently service two of Schweppes' "rolling fridges". They needed a good service to make them a bit easier to get around despite the cargo they would be carrying, and better brakes to help them set up shop and not roll away! We got the job done just in time, and got to see them in action while popping down for a meal later in the week. More info: http://melbourne.goodfoodmonth.com/

Fleet Building for Peninsula Pedal Tours

In October this year we helped get a new business on the Mornington Peninsula running. Peninsula Pedal Tours will operate a cafe and bike hire service based in Red Hill. They will run tours along the mountain bike tracks, with a full range of hard tail and dual suspension mountain bikes. The bikes are high end, and even e-bikes are available. The Rapid Wrench is glad to be servicing the fleet of bikes. This will be another great addition to the already massive stable of activities to do in the area. This service will only help bring more riders and business to the local area, again proving that the South has so much to offer, at only an hour from Melbourne!

Fleet Servicing: St John Ambulance Victoria

Today we are at St Johns Ambulance headquarters in Mulgrave to service the second half of their bike fleet. They use the bikes at all kinds of events, large and small. These bikes are used to respond to emergencies- as such, The Rapid Wrench did a killer job making sure the bikes stay reliable and up to the task. The bikes were later used to get around at the AFL Grand Final. More info: www.stjohnvic.com.au
